For the release of “First Light,” Lana Del Rey’s original theme song for IO Interactive’s 007 FIRST LIGHT, I developed the cover artwork together with Associate Creative Director Louis Stilling.
Working from the initial creative direction established by Louis, I developed and refined the artwork through to final delivery, reworking foundational elements, retouching, lighting and color grading to achieve the quality required across both digital and print.
The creative direction brought together the worlds of James Bond and Lana Del Rey, combining the elegance and cinematic intrigue of 007 with Lana’s distinct visual character, while remaining connected to the wider identity of 007 FIRST LIGHT.
A key challenge was the resolution of the original photography. The image was upscaled, followed by extensive retouching and paintover work to reconstruct skin texture, lighting and fine photographic details. Throughout the process, it was essential that these refinements remained invisible, preserving Lana and the original photograph exactly as intended while bringing it to the quality required for the final cover.
